Same with casual, business casual, formal business, and so on. Sometimes the message you want to portray to your prospective customer outweighs your office culture; If you are in a serious line of work, but the attire is casual in the office, you may want to consider sprucing up the look for picture day.

Jewelry

When preparing for your headshot, the consideration of your jewelry should complement the outfit you are wearing, your business culture, and the portrayal you are going for. The simple idea with jewelry is that it should compliment the outfit and not distract from your face.

Hair and makeup

If you think you want a haircut, give your hair a chance to adjust, and get a haircut a week before the shoot. Choose a style or cut that suits you and that you’re happy with.
For Women – If possible, have your hair styled and makeup done by a professional. Let them know that you are having a business headshot so they can prepare your hair and makeup properly. If you are doing your own, your makeup should be your day look; lightly smooth out your skin, and enhance your beautiful features. Heavy makeup is hard to retouch and won’t show you at your best in the photo. We can fix minor skin breakouts/imperfections in the processing phase.
For Men – If you are going for a little scruff, grow it a few days ahead of time so it settles, and trim that day for a uniform scruff look.
